"THEIR" STORY - THE CAMPBELLS
MEET PHILIP & LASHAI
While praying for the best way to serve the Statesboro-Bulloch County area, God placed a special message, Isaiah 58:6-12, in the hearts of Philip and LaShai Campbell, and Restoring the Breach, Inc. was incorporated on March 4, 2017. Since its inception, Restoring the Breach, Inc. has been blessed with God-given directors, advisors, and volunteers who work faithfully and diligently to ensure that the organization is successful.
Shortly after its founding, the Restoring the Breach, Inc. team wasted no time beginning the service they were committed to accomplish. In the beginning May of 2017, the organization participated in a local youth conference and assisted with setting up Open Hearts Community Mission. By the end of month, Restoring the Breach, Inc. was preparing to host its first program, Camp ULTRA.
Camp ULTRA was held for a week at the end of June 2017 at Grace wood Baptist Church. Restoring the Breach, Inc. along with volunteers from Grace wood Baptist Church, Georgia Southern University, and local educational institutions hosted over 45 children from Kindergarten through 8th grade each day and enriched them with classes including Bible Study, Language Arts, Math, Science & Technology, Physical Education, Visual and Performing Arts. Different community leaders also came in each day host a leadership seminar each afternoon.
Restoring the Breach, Inc. currently provides ongoing devotional services at Open Hearts Community Mission on Wednesday nights and tutoring services on Tuesday and Thursday nights at the Statesboro-Bulloch County library. The organization also hosts monthly workshops on Georgia Southern’s campus with subjects including but not limited to, budgeting, mental health, and career preparedness. Community outreach programs have included a health fair, back-to-school drives, school supply distribution, a literacy event—among other events.
